We have registered stock in both the International Dorper Breeders' Society (I.D.S.B.A) and the American Dorper Sheep  Breeders Society (ADSBS).

Interesting Facts:

Dorper Sheep have had a tremendous impact on the sheep industry in Texas. In the 50’s the Brahma bull provided the American cattleman with heterosis = “hybrid-vigor.”

Dorper Sheep are so far removed genetically from any sheep breeds here in North America, that “hybrid-vigor” will express itself in the F1 cross.

Our Dorpers are fullblood , no percentage or purebreds,. They offer traits such as high meat to bone ratio, lean and delicious mutton, hair rather than wool, tolerance to common diseases just to name a few. These animals are in great demand since their introduction to United States in 1995.  At Van Vliet Livestock you can now purchase them right here in Farmington, California.
